Pure Land Buddhism in South Australia

Flowers

Welcome to our Adelaide Shin Buddhist dojo.

In the history of Mahayana Buddhism, the Pure Land tradition has played a distinguished role in spreading the Buddhist message of universal compassion. (The Three Pure Land Sutras, Vol II, Shin Buddhism Translation Series, p. vii)

Shin Buddhism (also known as 'Jodo Shinshu') is a school of the Pure Land tradition. It was founded by Shinran Shonin about eight hundred years ago.

Our little dojo in Adelaide is a regional branch of the Hongwanji Buddhist Mission of Australia, which is based in Sydney. Our head temple is Nishi Hongwanji in Kyoto.

At our dojo we have books for sale, and other religious items too.

Please email us to make arrangements regarding counselling and funerals, and other inquiries.

We meet twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 10 am
PLEASE NOTE the new starting time of 10 a.m. from 7 May 2017
